Margaritaville at Sea Paradise
Margaritaville at Sea Paradise:
An Honest Review from Your Travel Advisor
3 Nights • West Palm Beach to Nassau, Bahamas
You’ve probably seen the ads. The sun-soaked imagery, the promise of a quick escape, the price point that makes you do a double take. I know I did - and eventually, curiosity won out. I hopped aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise for a 3-night sail to Nassau, Bahamas, and I’m here to give you the real, unfiltered scoop - the good, the quirky, and everything in between.
Spoiler alert: I’m glad I went. And depending on what you’re looking for, you might be too.
🚢 First Impressions: Yes, It Really Is That Cozy

Let’s just get this out of the way: the Paradise is a smaller ship. I knew this going in, but seeing her docked for the first time still gave me a moment of “oh, wow - that’s it!” That said, small doesn’t mean bad - it means intimate, easy to navigate, and refreshingly uncrowded compared to the mega-ships of the world.
Check-in moved quickly, which was a genuine pleasant surprise. The terminal seating was more folding-chair casual than lounge-worthy, but it was a short wait, so no real complaints there.
⏰ Boarding Day: A Few Things Worth Knowing

Boarding opens early, and while it’s tempting to rush the gangway, here’s my advice: pace yourself. Staterooms typically aren’t ready until around 2:00 PM, which means you’ll be carrying your carry-on with you until then. Plan accordingly and pack your boarding-day essentials in an easy-to-access bag.
We made the most of it by heading straight to the buffet. The taco bar was a definite highlight for me, but when have you known me to not like tacos? The rest of the buffet was smaller and standard cruise fare, nothing extraordinary, but it did the job. We then settled into one of the ship’s lounges to wait out the time, grab a cocktail, and get a little work done while the ship hummed to life around us. Fair warning: as the lounge filled up, drink service slowed significantly - staffing levels were stretched thin with just one server covering the entire space. A little patience goes a long way.
🛋️ The Stateroom: Compact but Clever
I was genuinely impressed by the stateroom layout - more space than I anticipated given the ship’s size. A few things to note so you can pack smart:
• Outlets are limited. There are two standard US outlets (one tucked under the vanity), plus two European-style plugs. Bring a plug adaptor and you’ll have more to work with - a detail I wish I’d known ahead of time!
• The bathroom is a decent size, though the shower is on the cozy side. I appreciated the thoughtful labeling inside - trashcan location, spare toilet paper - the small details matter!
• Sound travels. The walls and doors are thinner than newer ships, so you’ll hear your neighbors and hallway activity more than you might be used to. Light sleepers should bring earplugs or a white noise app.
• Room location matters! My cabin sat directly below the theater - which meant some vibration and sound during evening shows. Not a dealbreaker, but something to consider when selecting your stateroom.
🌊 The Pool Deck: Small in Size, Big on Vibes

The main pool is petite - definitely more of a “dip and cool off” situation than a lap-swimming situation - but the energy on the deck was wonderful. Plenty of lounge chairs, lively music, and great entertainment created a fun, festive atmosphere. The adult area offered two hot tubs, its own pool, and a multi-level deck with tons of seating - a lovely retreat when you want a slightly calmer vibe.
One note: cocktail service on the pool deck moved slowly. If you’re someone who loves having a drink appear in your hand like magic, plan to visit the bar yourself - the bars were well-stocked with quality pours (not watered down, great selection!), so the drinks are absolutely worth it.
🍽️ Food & Dining: Some Wins, Some Lessons

The dining scene is where your expectations will matter most. This isn’t a fine-dining sailing, and that’s perfectly okay once you know what to seek out.
🍕 Pizza: A genuine standout - I'd keep going back!
🥪 Made-to-Order Sandwiches: Rubens, ham & cheese - fresh, solid, and satisfying.
🌮 Taco Bar (Buffet): My boarding day favorite - tasty and fresh.
🍔 Cheeseburger in Paradise: Solid burgers - just temper your expectations if you’re coming from a Guy’s Burger Joint background.
🍽️ Main Dining Room: The dinner entrees I tried (eggplant and chicken marsala) didn’t quite hit the mark for me - stick to the sure bets and you’ll be happier for it.
🎹 Entertainment & Onboard Activities

For a smaller ship, the activity lineup was genuinely fun. Trivia was a highlight - challenging (in the best way!) and a great way to meet fellow guests. The casino was clean, smoke-free, and a nice size for the ship. There’s also a dueling piano bar that draws a lively crowd, a tattoo parlor (book early - appointments fill fast!), and wifi that actually worked well for the basics on the standard package: email, social media, messaging. No complaints there.
💆♀️ Spa: The Absolute Highlight
I cannot say enough about the spa experience. I treated myself to a massage and a facial, and both were exceptional - truly some of the best spa services I’ve had at sea. I left feeling completely rejuvenated. If you’re looking for a reason to book this cruise, let this be it. Treat yourself!
❤️ The Crew: A Genuine 10 out of 10
Every single crew member and fellow guest I encountered was warm, friendly, and welcoming. The spirit of Margaritaville - laid-back, happy, no-stress - was genuinely reflected in the people on board. That alone makes a cruise experience, and this one delivered.
☀️ The Bottom Line

Margaritaville at Sea Paradise isn’t trying to be a luxury liner - and that’s exactly what makes it special. It’s a fantastic fit for a girls’ trip, a mother-daughter weekend, a guys’ getaway, or anyone who just needs a few days away from cooking, cleaning, and the everyday grind - without the sticker shock of a longer, larger sailing.
I’m already eyeing the Margaritaville at Sea Islander out of Tampa next - stay tuned for that review!
